The service

Sextant checks where your products appear in Shopify Catalog search results for the searches you choose, and shows how those positions change over time. Shopify Catalog is the product search Shopify provides to AI shopping channels. Each channel orders results its own way, so positions are a guide, not a measurement of what any shopper sees, and Sextant does not promise any change in your positions or sales.

Sextant reads Shopify Catalog through Shopify’s published interface and depends on it. If Shopify changes or limits that interface, checks may be delayed, incomplete or stop.

Plans and billing

Paid plans are billed by Shopify on your Shopify invoice, at the price shown when you choose the plan, after any free trial. You can change plan in Sextant or stop paying by uninstalling the app. If you move to a plan with fewer searches, the searches you added first keep being checked and the rest are paused.

Data processing

For the personal data Sextant handles for your store, you are the controller and we act as your processor. We:

• process it only to provide Sextant to you, as these terms and your use of the app instruct, and not for advertising, profiling or sale;
• read only what Sextant needs: your products and their variants. We do not read orders or customers, and we store no personal data about your customers;
• use Shopify as the platform and a cloud hosting provider (Tencent Cloud) to run the app, and no other subprocessors. We will update these terms before adding one;
• protect data with encrypted connections, restricted access to our servers, and logs that record no request contents and hash store domains;
• delete everything we store for your store when you uninstall Sextant or Shopify sends a data deletion request, and help you answer requests from your customers about their data;
• tell you without undue delay if we become aware of a breach affecting your store’s data.

Availability and liability

We work to keep Sextant available and correct, but it is provided as is, and Shopify features it relies on can change. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for Sextant in the three months before the claim.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and we will tell you in the app about changes that affect you. You can stop using Sextant at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend a store that misuses the app.
